Optimising for Pinterest? Here Are Six Mistakes That You Should Avoid!

Have you ever heard of Pinterest? You likely do, as more and more people are relying on the social media platform to gather ideas for food decoration, Christmas presents, or even simple things like what to wear for today. As the name suggests, Pinterest is the home of interests around the globe. Which is why, because of the sea of people browsing the site on a daily basis, it is a good idea to focus a part of your marketing strategy there. After all, what kind of marketer wouldn't want to be in a place where 93% of users are actually there to plan for purchases?

Here are some things that you can avoid committing so that you may optimise your marketing presence on Pinterest.

1. Going overboard with pinning. Too much of anything is never a good thing. For this one, pinning too much in a consecutive streak will flood your followers and overwhelm them.

2. Not pinning original content. Pinterest is a hub of ideas and creativity! Always bring something new to the table and followers will naturally come to you.

3. Pinning with bad links. Always check if your links are pointing to the right source. Never pin Google Images and home pages of blogs!

4. Neglecting pin descriptions. Be sure to let your followers know what you're pinning about. When you are repinning, take time to write down a comprehensive story of the image.

5. Pinning gift ideas to public places. Don't post gift ideas and upcoming parties to public pages; there are private boards for that.

6. Pinning too much on group boards. People will get annoyed eventually if you spam them with pins. Try to keep your pins moderate to avoid being kicked out of a group board.

7. Not saving favourites. Nothing really lasts forever; not even websites do. Content frequently get moved, so save your favourite ideas so you won't lose access to them.
