The Redesigned Explore Tab
If you want a cut from the usual, the redesigned Explore Tab is your hub. Find out events, dining spots and or popular activities depending on the area you’re looking at. This feature lets you explore trending lists, the latest talk of the town and find new restaurants recommended by local experts and suggestions based on Google’s algorithms or well-known publishers. You can even cross-out suggestions from lists so you can track what else you can try out.
Preference Match Rating
When you tap on any venue, Google Maps will display your “match” - a number that shows a possible match level with your preference and reasons explaining why. Machine learning technology makes it possible for us to generate this number based on a few factors such as available information about an establishment, the places you’ve been to or places you have rated or added to your lists. The match level changes over time as you add more to your lists, choose or visit new places. This feature makes Google Maps your personal virtual assistant that will show you options and make quick decisions.
Shareable Shortlists
Google Maps make group planning easy. When you long press on places you’re interested in, you will be able to add the place in a shareable shortlist. Share this with your friends or family so they can contribute to the list. When the list is complete, everyone can vote and decide on the place to go and book a reservation or get a ride right there in Google Maps.
“For You” Tab
This feature lets you keep tab of what’s up and about in the places you’re into. Follow neighbourhood areas or dining spots you want to try to keep you updated with events and happenings, new food spots that match as they pop around the corner - never run out of ideas on where you can hang out with friends or dine out with your family
