.APP Domains Now Available in Google Registry

Google announced Tuesday its new Top-Level Domain (TLD) offering .app from Google Registry. The domain was created especially for apps and app developers and will be the Google's official domain for apps. This new home for apps features additional security and an enhanced way to showcase new apps across the globe.

Now app developers can also reap the benefits of having a home on the web, making it easy for people to find and learn more about your app. App developers may also use the domain as a landing page for sharing links to downloads and keeping users updated with fresh content, and best, engaging them through in-app content.

App developers and their users can rely on the built-in security feature of .app domains. HTTPS will be a mandatory requirement to connect to all .app websites. This helps to guard against malware attacks and tracking injections by ISPs. Plus, it safeguards against spying on unsecured wifi networks. With the enforced security, .app TLD helps promote the use of HTTPS everywhere to a more secure web in the future.

Since 9 AM PDT until May 7, app domains will be available for registration as part of the Early Access Program. With an additional fee, you can pre-register any domain you desire before it even becomes available. On May 8 onwards, .app domains will be made available to the public for registration.

By visiting the get. app, see who's already on .app. You may also pick a registrar partner to register your domain.
