Google Confirms Gmail Redesign

Great news! Google confirms its plan to launch a new design for the Gmail web interface. A Google representative made an official statement to The Verge:

“We’re working on some major updates to Gmail (they’re still in draft phase),” says a Google spokesperson. “We need a bit more time to compose ourselves, so can’t share anything yet—archive this for now, and we’ll let you know when it’s time to hit send.” -Google Spokesperson

According to The Verge, the e-mail sent to the G Suite administrators contained details regarding the features of the new design. Features for a “fresh, clean look for Gmail on the web” include Smart Reply, snoozing emails, and offline support. We can expect it to be available soon as an early access program for G suite customers and personal Gmail accounts.

The Gmail already has useful functions and organisation features. Gmail is one of the best e-mail providers, but it aims to be better. Valuewalk.com highlights the new features users can expect in Gmail’s redesign. Direct access to Google Calendar from Gmail’s interface is one of the biggest additions to the new design. Third-party clients like Outlook will appreciate the quick access to their appointments and obligations in their Google Calendar. Another great feature is the “snooze”, allowing you to keep your email clutter free. The smart reply feature on mobile will also be available on the new Gmail web interface. This will allow users to quickly respond to simple emails with contextual recommendations. Lastly, the new design offers a way to store emails on the user’s computer for offline access.

Gmail is one of the largest e-mail providers to date. Since 2004, it has provided consumer-oriented electronic mail services. According to Time, Paul Buccheit, the creator of Gmail, started working on Gmail in August 2001. In 2006, Google offered a Java-based version of Gmail for mobile phones. Gmail officially ended its beta status in 2009. As one of the most popular e-mail providers, its features and interface have generally been unmatched. The new design for the web interface is another effort to ensure better user experience.
